2019 Greater NY Scholastic Chess Championships - Results and Pics!

Over 50 brave young minds from NEST+m competed in the 2019 Greater New York Scholastic Chess Championships at the Marriott Hotel at the Brooklyn Bridge on Jan. 5-6, 2019, beating the competition as well as the freezing temperatures while their parents tried to keep their cool (at least so in front of their children out of the game rooms). We kicked off the New Year with yet another victory with some significant wins: 

TEAM AWARDS:

• K1 Championship: 2nd place
• Primary U600:   6th place
• Primary U1000:  1st place
• Primary Championship: 3rd place
• Junior High Championship: 3rd place

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS:

• K1 Championship: Youran Evan Zhao (10th), Arabella Fang (13th)
• Primary U600:  David Dunikov (13th)
• Primary U1000:  Connor Chin (2nd), Liam Chan (5th), 
• Primary Championship:  Jack Faissal (12th), Kai Tsuboyama (14th)

2018 National K-12 Grade Championship Results & Pics!

This past weekend, 24 of our LG students participated in the National Scholastic K-12 Grade chess championships in Orlando, FL. This was our largest turnout yet and our students demonstrated incredible sportsmanship and team spirit. We had several players who were participating in their first ever National tournament! Here is a summary of the key results:

TEAM AWARDS:

• 1st grade: 7th place
• 2nd grade: 5th place
• 3rd grade: 5th place
• 4th grade: 3rd place

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS:

• 2nd grade: Jack Faissal, 15th place tied
• 3rd grade: Dylan Kang, 9th place
• 4th grade: Spencer Chin - 4th place; Romir Mukherjee - 20th place tied

OTHER HONORABLE MENTIONS
